MIP Coordinator Spotlight: Lillian Turnipseed

Reverend Lillian Turnipseed has served the Lord faithfully since her youth. When she was 12 years old, she realized the call God had on her life, after delivering her first “message” as president of her district Youth Department. Her constant desire has always been, “Lord, what will you have me to do?” She is an ordained minister in the Church of God and has spoken at various seminars and conferences.

Reverend Turnipseed serves in ministry with her husband of 39 years, Bishop James Turnipseed, pastor of the Beacon Avenue Church of God. They have four children and four grandchildren.

At Beacon Avenue, she serves as the president of the Women’s Discipleship Department and assistant director of the Christian Education Department. She is also the coordinator of the Southern New England Ministerial Internship Program and a member of the SNE Women’s Discipleship Board.

Reverend Turnipseed holds a bachelor’s degree from Alcorn State University and a master’s degree from the Mississippi State University. She is a retired teacher from the Providence School Department.

Whether serving in the church or the classroom, Reverend Turnipseed is guided by the principles of 1 Corinthians 15:58: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, foreasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
