Tom Mitchell was born and raised in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and is a product of the Fox & Walnut Church of God (now New Beginnings Church). He grew up within the stability of a loving family at home, as well as at church. He had only one pastor prior to leaving home, Dean McAlister, who instilled in him a love for the Word of God which can change lives.
Mitchell left home at 20 years of age and moved to Fresno, California, to attend West Coast Christian College. After receiving his B.A. in Christian Ministry there, he and his wife, Angela, moved to Cleveland, Tennessee, to attend the Church of God School of Theology (now the Pentecostal Theological Seminary). After receiving a M.A. in Christian Ministry there, they moved to Winfield, Kansas, where they pastored their first church–the Praise Cathedral Church of God, for 17 and a half years. Seven years ago, they moved to their second church–the Mt. Vernon Church of God, located in Wichita, Kansas. During their 25 years of ministry in Kansas, Tom served on numerous state and regional councils and youth boards, and had the honor to serve as the M.I.P. coordinator for 16 years. After the last International General Assembly, Reverend Mitchell was approved as the Heartland Region Ministerial Development director.
Tom and Angela have two sons, Kyle (25) and Wesley (21) who live and work in Wichita, Kansas.
